According to a recent article on Mining.com, Iamgold's Chief Operating Officer, Bruno Lemelin, has been awarded the Northern Miner Group's Operator of the Year Award. The award, sponsored by EY, recognizes Lemelin's efforts in overseeing the successful construction and ramp-up of Iamgold's Côté mine in Canada. The mine, which began production in 2024, is expected to become one of Canada's largest gold producers, with average annual output of 365,000 oz. Lemelin's experience in managing mining operations, including his time at Essakane in Burkina Faso, has prepared him for the challenges of expanding Iamgold's operations, including the planned expansion at Côté and the development of the Nelligan property in Quebec.
